8 reasons why you need to be excited for the remastered Crash Bandicoot

This year marks the 20th birthday of one of the most influential videogame character in gaming history, Crash Bandicoot. Before Joel & Ellie, Nathan & Elena, And Jak &  Daxter, we had Crash Bandicoot. Today, Naughty Dog is known for their story driven games like the Game of the Year The Last of Us and the Uncharted Series. Before all that, they were known as the creator of Sonic and Mario's newest rival, Crash Bandicoot. Yep you heard that right, Crash was Mario's rival during the the 90's. There was even a commercial for it.

Sony was the new kid in the game console business then, and they needed a mascot to rival Nintendo's Mario and Sega's Sonic. Naughty Dog was successful on making Sony a new mascot, Crash took the world by storm and was the first western dev made game that the Japanese went crazy for.

To celebrate his 20th birthday, Sony announced during E3 2016 that a remastered version of the first three games is in the works! So here are 8 reasons why you need to be excited:

8. It has been 18 years since the Crash Bandicoot warped.

"But sir, there were several Crash game since Warped" I hear you ask. Yes it's true but Warped was the last main Crash game that Naughty dog made, after Crash Team Racing, Naughty Dog gave up the rights to Crash to Universal Interactive Studios (Naughty Dog was under Universal studios then, making Crash Universal's property). Currently Activision has the rights.

7. We need more platforming games.

This genre is where you jump from one platform to another. It usually has an overworld where you can select levels.Today, there are three genre of games that dominates the Filipino gaming scene and the following are:

A. MOBA, this genre dominated Filipino gaming scene for over 10 years now. MOBA or Multi Online Battle Arena, is where you have one character and is teamed up with other players, the goal is to destroy the other team's special tower (or the like). Sounds familiar? Yes it's DotA and LoL.

B. First Person Shooters, Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Battlefield.

C. Basketball games, Filipinos loves Basketball and that is why NBA 2k is the game to have if you have your own cafe.
We need the thrill that only platforming games can provide.

6. We need a game with a fun jolly vibe.

Games today are too serious, we need that fun vibe again. Something that reminds us that we play to have fun and escape reality.

5. A great game to introduce gaming to the next generation.

Yeah I sounded like a thousand years old but kids today only know mobile games and that cannot be considered as a videogame. With the remastered version on the way, it's the best opportunity for you to introduce Crash to the younglings. Show them the joy on beating a boss or the thrill when you're being chased by a boulder.

4. A great way to bond with your friends.

Nostalgia feels here. It'll be like the good ol times, picking up the phone and calling your friends telling them to come over.

You can do that again with your pals. Time to beat Cortex again while munching on some chips.

3. It's HD and 60 fps.

HIGH DEFINITION AND SIXTY FRAMES PER SECOND. It'll cure your cancer.

MMMMMMMMHHHHHH ME GUSTA

2. You miss Crash.

I miss Crash, that's why I'm excited for his arrival and this time I get to see him in HD! We had a good run together. Being a kid and you find that one level difficult so you try and try again until you beat that level. You kind of form a bond together when you try to beat an adversary.

1. Simply because it's Crash Bandicoot.

I'm going to raise the nostalgia card here, most of us grew up playing Crash Bandicoot and playing it again in glorious HD (I can't stress this enough) reminds us of a much simpler time.

Crash was part of our lives and I'm excited that he's coming back!

So these are the reasons why you need to be excited for the Bandicoot's arrival. Are you just as excited as I am? What are your favorite Crash Bandicoot moment? Write it down in the comments below :)
